I know rule #1 is to move your crypto off exchanges and into your wallet, but lets honestly many people dont do that.
The main reason is because they are not confident. So any bad events actually won't make them learn, they will only look for similar alternative services.
Who do you trust to last?
You mean from all those exchanges? I have no idea.
Or who survives the destruction? Of course, all those who uphold the principles of decentralization. Bitcoins are safe if you treat them as a technical procedure, which is clearly not stated in the whitepaper that bitcoins must be managed through centralized systems.
