Here is my take on it: Every year, billions (if not trillions) of chickens are being killed to feed the people. And how many get killed in cock-fighting championships? At the most a few thousands? We can't even compare the numbers. And secondly, we can't ignore the benefits from cock fighting, such as the preservation of rare breeds by the participants. And finally, cock fighting is a part of the culture and generates jobs and revenue for the rural population in regions where it is being practiced. All these benefits can't be swept under the carpet.
Oh well, there's always opinions and factors that people can raise about this concern. I'm sure we will hear another opinions regarding to your statement and it will either contest or be agreed by other readers.
