That would be a reasonable attitude but humans can be very unreasonable at times, what you are describing is just the way things work everywhere, with new generations taking over the older generations which in return they will be overtaken by newer generations as well, but this can be very difficult for some people to accept, in fact in other sports many star players retire before they are benched as their pride does not allow them to accept this new reality, so either Ronaldo accepts that being benched is now a possibility at Portugal or he retires from his national team.
Playing under the current coach is not an ideal scenario for Ronaldo. If Fernando Santos continues as the coach, then I don't think that Ronaldo should remain active in international football anymore. He humiliated and insulted him during Qatar 2022 and never faced any consequence for his actions. The reason why Portugal lost to Morocco is solely due to blunders from Santos. And despite all that, he was badmouthing Ronaldo whenever he got a chance. I understand that CR7 is keen to play along with his son in Euro 2024 and FIFA 2026, but if he continues to get insulted, then there is no point.
