For the readers, it's worth mentioning that in all projects there are always some troublemakers who did not contribute the slightest to the code or the community. As one can read, the new specifications
follow repeated and strong requests from the Namecoin community. Means, discussions and votes were held in several groups, channels and private chats over a long time. And as I said already, I'm keeping the new apps compatible with all versions of the Namecoin software wallets, thus
I mentioned the introduction of new pTLDs only once as a side note in a similar "issue" on Github. During the internal discussions, I've noticed repeatedly that even well-known members of BitcoinTalk have never even heard of Namecoin, and it's no wonder, since the project has been in deep sleep for a decade. But every BitcoinTalk member should know that even Satoshi Nakamoto contributed on this project, especially
he proposed merged mining, what is today the miners' standard, see
The Crypto Bible for details. I'm happy to bring this project finally to life!
Namecoin's brand value is literally being stole by a couple of for-profit corporations attempting to patent .bit domains and us as a community couldn't even get together to file a letter of protest for 50$ so the patent office is made aware of Namecoin's prior use of the technology.
In the occupancy of the .bit pTLD by other projects I see no problem at all, see my previous posts
Namecoin HTTPS DNS Resolver and
Failed trademark applications for TLDs.
