I left betting on national teams after the World Cup ended but Germany were one of the best playing teams in the World Cup. They just had issues with finishing and said farewell to the tourney in group stage unluckily. I see Germans as favourites of the tourney with their host country advantage as a result.
don't get fooled by the fact that the Euro will be played in Germany, if you think Germany can win it as a team, it's fine you do you, but because they are the host it doesn't mean anything, we saw what happened to Brazil in 2014 world cup, it's rare where a host wins the tournament, who i actually think can win it is England, they have some young talents that can get them the trophy and it's been a long time since they won something.
It seems to me that German national football has been in crisis for a long time. After the 2014 world title in Brazil, they did nothing in the world competitions and were eliminated twice in a row in the group stage of the world championship, which is no coincidence.
Honestly, regardless of the fact that they are the hosts of the next European Championship, I don't see them as favorites for the title.
At the European Championship, I expect the most from the French, England, Spain and Italy.
@Daniel91 Germanys football used to be so great once upon a time, but now a days they play really bad but since its in their home country I sincerely hope that they will perform well at least for the sake of their citizens. However I dont expect them to win it, because I expect France or England to win it because they have really good players who can help them win it.
I think that now Germany must make a mix of its best players, the oldest and the youngest, perhaps the youngsters are not afraid of the veterans and that is an advantage, but they do not have experience and in a game you need to have experience to deal with certain things, even with arbitration, so if veterans join the team, and youngsters, the team will have a better integration, it will be more complete as I had said before, let's just look at what Spain did in the World Cup, it took only youngsters And they still got kicked out, veterans are always needed in a team so they can do things better.
For me personally, it's actually a surprise to see the big decline of the German national team after the great games at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when they became world champions.
I actually expected them to continue playing at the same level and be competitive still in all the major competitions after 2014, but that didn't happen.
Maybe they didn't do the generational change well? Is something else the problem? It's really hard to give a good answer.
German clubs are still good and achieve good results in European club competitions, but the national team has not been at the expected level for a long time.
As I said before, I don't think they will be favorites at the European Championship next year, but as the hosts they will still have an advantage that they can use.
@Daniel91 the only advantage Germany has that it can expect more local fan's for their matches, but their fans too will stop cheering after a certain point if they see their country players constantly playing sloppy football. Lastly I personally believe that France will have the advantage in the form of Pogba who had to miss the World Cup due to injuries, and Im sure that he would like to make up for it by helping his country win this tournament.
