Here I have the same problem happened because of my Israeli citizenship, I had to get a pension there, and they refused to give it to me, frankly, very unpleasant situation was, I was helped  solve it in my direction, so I advise to keep track of their pensions, and better create some private fund for yourself or your family, this option will certainly not allow you to lose your money
