I'd choose to buy Bitcoin. You've rightly stated the advantages attached to mining but it all depends on the individual. If you expect to mine and get stellar results, it would be better to use an ASIC Antminer miner as it yields faster results than a CPU or GPU. But to purchase such is costly and looking at the competition one has to go through just for a block reward is something I'd readily pass up.
