your friend is right but did he/she tell you about what bitcoin will make you rich? just to let you know that every day there are many new investors who buy and sell bitcoin but the number of those who buy will be very large and the law of demand applies here, if more and more invest in bitcoin the value will be higher, besides that bitcoin has a halving cycle every 4 years and the reward block is getting smaller.
