Gates, who once warned of massive unemployment due to software automation, now looks towards the future of AI with confidence, stating that AI will result in us having to work less and transform our world.
Automation only lead to more employment, most desk jobs didn't exist 50 years ago. It's important to realize what you actually need: you don't need a job, you need to be able to make a living! If you need multiple jobs for that, you're not better off. If an AI takes away your desk job and income, just because your former employer makes more profit, society as a whole isn't better off.
Rich get richer? Yup
This has been going on for a very long time, and it's bad for society as a whole. Maybe we should all start by working less hours: make labour scarce again! You're much better off if you can afford a decent living working 24 hours per week, than when you can't afford it while working 60 hours.
