Sometimes I like to spend 5 - 10 minutes of my time reading JJG's post replies at a time, it's always good for knowledge. I never asked him why he tends to write that long, but I think it's an addiction. 
Even behind something I am not good at, I dare to invite by making mention of JayJuanGee and DdmrDdmr to read their posts on the explanation being discussed.I didn't discuss how he issued merits to posts that were deemed worthy. But I can suggest to the OP that when the mood is not friendly, reading their posts sometimes tend to bore us because they are too long. But to add insight and reference, reading JayJuanGee's posts will provide additional energy for our brains including DdmrDdmr's posts.
