You are correct in that but how many people do perform good research on new projects? Metaverse is getting more popular so we will probably see more and more coins focusing about that. Personally, I haven't heard about Sandbox before and I am also not interested in it.
Only dedicated investors take their time to analyze a project and everything they can find about it and its developers, but the majority of the people are not like that, they simply assume that if everything on the surface looks good then everything must be fine as well, but we know that scammers are experts at selling their projects and give them a professional image and once you have already invested any money it is too late to do anything about it and recover your money.
