Ok, I don't mind. I'm not even against the fact that these topics will remain on the forum and continue to be active, the section Off-topic is perfect for this ], which publishes all sorts of rubbish, including dubious schemes for making money at the casino and other nonsense. There are only 2 active topics in the HYIPs section now, these topics can be moved, and the rest to the Archive. As a result, the vacated section is renamed and filled with more useful topics for discussion.

This may actually work. But also see below.

NeuroticFish, speaking in the language of associations, your sentence looks like this:

In your house, where you and your family live, garbage begins to accumulate in one place, which only insects enjoy (association with bots). You, instead of throwing out this garbage and making room in your house for something useful, you offer to hang a sign near this garbage that it stinks, and you offer your family to simply ignore all this garbage.

That's why I wrote about the meaninglessness of your proposal. There is no point in these warnings and ignoring when the main problem is elsewhere.

Actually your example is (at least partly) incorrect because in my house I can have proper control over the garbage accumulating and I don't have to ask anyone if I want to throw it away.
Moreover, although we pretty much "live" in this "house", it's not ours and we have to go by its rules. This being said, offering a wider list of options to theymos can increase the chances of something actually getting done with that garbage.

If theymos wants he can do tests and see whether doing something about those spam bots (from locking those few topics to maybe even banning them) would stop the garbage accumulate.
If not, he can properly contain that area, in a way or another, but preferably also mark it as "Warning, this is a dump, hence pests and diseases may find their home here; watch your steps!".
Makes more sense?
