Bitcoin, Bitcoin and stay with Bitcoin, because it's the safest for you as a beginner. If you can't do the research yourself, holding bitcoins is best. But if you've watched someone over the years make a good living with crypto, why don't you follow him and wake up now. You may be too afraid of risk to have more desire to get into crypto. Don't use minimal knowledge, you have to learn the basics of crypto and it needs to be done. Don't ask which crypto is good for investment, but ask yourself if you are ready with crypto and all the risks.
Being afraid of taking too many risks is a good thing as that saves you from getting more potential losses. People who tend to invest in altcoins or new coins should have this instinct of being a little afraid of the risks otherwise they will be exposed to exponential losses. Also, it is never recommended to follow someone else's decisions, especially in trading. Your trades should be based on your own research and even if based on instincts, they should be yours and not someone else's.

if you will explore alts, it is always advisable to keep up with their news and updates, lurk around their soc med channels and you will get insights on where they are heading at. sometimes you will get the instinct of the team's plans with their replies. so if you believe they are about to abandon the project, much better sell off rather than hold worthless coins later on.
This is essential, over the years I have seen investors which decide to invest in a new altcoin but they do not invest the necessary time to keep up with it, so whenever there is a big announcement they miss it by a few weeks or months, and this is a big problem as this means their reaction comes way too late, to the point some may miss the opportunity to sell their coins for a massive profit or to sell them before there is a rug pull.
