I think we all know that we need to have risk management and that we don't need to chase our losses but sometimes something just snaps in your head and you will bet crazy. The only thing that helps for me, is keeping a really low bankroll and using the vault system (but not all sites have that).
This is called tilt, I can admit that when I used to play poker and I suffered from a bad loss in which my opponent drew exactly the card they needed to beat me after I played my hand perfectly I could go into tilt mode.

However as soon as I realized this I just left as it is in those moments when you are inclined to make a major mistake, so if you feel as if you are about to lose control stop gambling immediately as those few minutes in which you cannot control yourself can be enough to lose all the money you have at the casino at the time.

It seems to me that bankroll management, as well as understanding all aspects of the game are the things that help avoid tilt. I think following these things and working on self-discipline will improve results and allow us to avoid unnecessary loss of money not only in poker but in any other risky activity. However, if a user gambles only for fun and can't control himself during losses, he should choose a casino with a feature that forcibly restricts access to gambling, either by time or by the amount of money lost.

There is no doubt that both of those factors are key in order to avoid tilt, however the most important is your ability to keep your emotions in check.

And this is because when you face some sort of setback when you gamble and the setback is caused by a set of circumstances that seem impossible to happen,  t becomes really easy to let your anger take over you and then make all kind of bets that under normal circumstances you will not make, and by the time you are able to get your emotions under control it is too late to do anything except to deal with the consequences of your mistakes.
