Manipulating a price is when someone puts in volume on the other side to get a better line for the side he wants to put his bet on.
Example: Lakers has a -9.5 line against Houston Rockets. In order for me to manipulate this line I have to smash the line on Houston to move the initial 9.5 line on the Lakers. This requires volume across multiple books. When the traders then adjust the line on the Lakers to -8.5 thats when I place the bet that I wanted for a better price. I just manipulated the line and created edge.
This example is textbook in how prices are manipulated!
On the other hand, if I place a bet on Lakers -9.5 because I think its a good bet and has value and later see the line move to -10.5 because the market thinks the same, am I a manipulator because of that?
