This is because 99.99% of the human beings involved in crypto start by purchasing bitcoin in exchange for fiat and then exchanging the bitcoin for an altcoin. In my opinion, crypto is more of a gateway than a gearshifter in the space, but I 100% see where you are coming from.
The good ol' PRNDL makes or breaks a car driving on the road. But there's a person behind the PRNDL. There is not one singular person driving the bitcoin car thankfully.
