it depends on the game
some games have a skill component
other games like Poker are way more about skill than about luck
not all games will be 0% luck 100% skill / 100% luck 0% skill
some will be a mix like 80/20 or 60/40
Right in skill based games you can turn you luck into your side by playing skillfully and winning the game.I have seen players turning the whole game in Poker with normal cards against good pairs by their mindset so there are skill based games also.
What happens is that the game of poker is very deep, so even if you do not have the best cards the question is if they are good enough to call the bet of your opponent and any subsequent bets? If that is the case then you can call and wait for the right cards to come.
Now some interpret this as luck but this is not true, you are taking a calculated risk and you judged the risk was worth taking, this is why in poker even if in theory every single player should get the same distribution of cards, the main difference between poker players is their ability to take risks when it is on their best interest to do so and to force their opponents to take unnecessary risks by controlling in a precise way the size of their bets.
