New coin/token are at their infant stage so it won't be nice or advisable to pump your resources into it but if you are to invest, it should be for a short time with a bit of due diligence of how solid the project you want to invest in is.
New tokens or coins are always risky for investment however sometimes risky investments give more interest as compared to investments in good popular coins. You will never want that you keep your portfolio limited to the top 10 or top 20 coins while your friends invest in new coins and some coins give them a jackpot of 100 to 1000x returns.
The best way to go about this is to allocate 10% of your portfolio to such new coins so you don't miss out on any opportunity.
