I've always had a bit of confidence in Arsenal because I was playing at home but after Xhaka scored a goal the goals actually didn't add up anymore and what was even better was that Sporting CP were able to do their bidding so the game became intense in the first half.
It was in the second half that a spectacular goal was scored by Pedro Goncalves. I didn't expect this to happen because the Arsenal goalkeeper was still in the penalty area, so the shot went perfectly into Arsenal's goal and became a long-range goal.
After that, Sporting CP was even more motivated, they had many chances, but in the end they failed, so the match went into extra round and ended in a penalty shootout.
Unlucky fate Martinelli's shot was able to be pushed aside by the Sporting CP goalkeeper while the Sporting CP players carried out the penalty task perfectly and this was clearly a dramatic victory and Arsenal had to be silent at home.
I think everyone was surprised that the ball went in, that ball would have to go exactly where it went in order to be a goal, you do not usually see that many goals from that far away in football, it sometimes happens but rarely we see it at this stage, usually that happens against a lot worse teams, not against teams like Arsenal to be fair, goalkeeper must be feeling terrible about the goal but there is nothing to be ashamed of, that goal was one in a million, even Pedro himself can shoot 10 more times from the same place and would probably miss all of them, so that was just a lucky situation.
However it is definitely sad to see such a good team gone from the tourney, that's true.
I had so much confidence in Arsenal going into the game and I really think this game would have had a different story if Arteta took advantage by playing his first eleven team in the first leg meeting, Arsenal would have won by a margin and had better advantage over Sporting going into the second leg but they failed to win and Sporting got motivated by the result and returned fully confident in the second leg.
