Altcoins are just clones of bitcoin, in which they are just formed based on the ideal image of bitcoin. So whatever their goals, they do it following the path of bitcoin. This only means that bitcoin is always the king and the only coin that will dominate the crypto market. In cases where bitcoin fail and delays its price increase, I guess worst are still happening to altcoins as some did not recover their value and left as dead coins.
There are different altcoins which even use different technologies, including different distributed ledger, not all are just clones of bitcoin. Of course we don't know which will stay for long and if entire crypto will be known as prospective if a far future, but if so then some of altcoins will become independent from bitcoin rates. Maybe not today and even not tomorrow, but those altcoins which have own utilitarian purpose can become self-sufficient. Otherwise IMO all crypto will fall because of uselessness.
