i also disagree with your example, you need to take engineering example instead of doctor, because doctory we can not learn online, it is important to practice all operation instrument, and how to do surgery, what kind of patients disabilities seems in real world, think you learned doctory online and never learned to hold an stethoscope, and gone(or appointed) to give an interview in an hospital, they tell you to check any patient by stethoscope and you are not able to hold the stethoscope in proper way and hearing hearbeat first time.
Do you think we cannot buy a stethoscope and perform surgery? you can buy and raise a guinea pig in order to learn surgery. Patient disabilities are differ from one to another, even a real doctor might mistakenly diagnosing his patient, what mostly doctor will do it suspect and check the whole body before suspect the correct disease.
I agree that college degrees are losing value, but I still see people who study hard and have degrees have better lives than those who don't. Many people think they can start a business without a college degree to get rich, but they also don't know that business is not for everyone and that without money, it is impossible to start a business. They just lazy enough to study, so they will give an excuse if they will just jump creating a business to get rich. If you have a friend or someone who have such thought, you can ask few questions: what business you will create, where it's operating, where is the supplier, have you surveyed all businesses which run in a same/similar service, how much you will make, if your business going bankrupt, what you will do etc.
