Barcelona managed to widen the gap with Real Madrid after picking up full points in their second meeting in La Liga this season, Barcelona is increasingly secure at the top of the standings after winning 12 points from Real Madrid who sit in second place.
After successfully beating Real Madrid, Barcelona chances of embracing the La Liga title are getting bigger. Barcelona only needs 25 more points to become champions, this amount is not difficult for Barcelona to collect because of its very consistent performances. Barcelona also no longer competes in European competition, now the focus is only on La Liga. Real Madrid had to give up the La Liga trophy for Barcelona, the defeat in El Clasico made their chances even smaller.
Barcelona's advantage is that they can focus heavily on La Liga and the Copa Del Rey, while Real Madrid have set their sights on the Champions League and perhaps halfheartedly on the Copa Del Rey.
It's reasonable to think that Madrid will no longer focus on La Liga after trailing Barcelona by 12 points, but that doesn't mean they have to play badly and fail to win their other match. There is optimism on the part of Real Madrid, especially regarding the coach because in my opinion Ancelotti does not give up easily.
This could be another advantage of Barcelona.
But for now, letting Barcelona win again in their match will actually hurt them, I think.
The current condition is that their Supercopa has been defeated by Barcelona, La Liga also almost certainly belongs to Barcelona and now the Copa del Rey if handed over this will clearly make them questionable.
At least they should stop one of Barcelona's trophy stoppers this season.
