Question:
How do Bitcoin and its blockchain actually work?
The real question here is:
Do we need to understand how it works to use it?
And the answer is "NO", just like your car engine, you don't ned to understand how the fuel becomes movements, you only need to know how to start it and drive it. And the same happens with Cryptos, people only need to understand how to send, receive and back up their address, that's all. The technical side is not a must for use it.
That's obviously right, but I think educating oneself with the social and economic implications can't hurt. Knowing why Bitcoin exists and what problems it solves or opportunities it creates makes probably more sense for most people than understanding the code. For those who are uncertain about Bitcoin, a course can make sense.
I think that some people who still have their doubts about cryptocurrencies do so because it is not clear to them what Bitcoin is all about. That's one concern that I get to hear sometimes when people say "what if it disappears out of a sudden?" So some of the basic info is important I think and it doesn't have to be too technical.
