I choose mergerfs because it is easy to replace and add drives without effort or losing data.
There is some other alternatives to easy combine drives?
Usually i'd just RAID provided by the motherboard so i only need to setting it once. But it's not valid option for you due to lack of hardware access. You also can check
lvmraid, but i find it's not easy to use/configure.

No, casa2 is a hostname. Can be translated as "house2"
I see, thanks for correction. I mistook it since some distro use it's distro name as default hostname.
