We are talking about something that happened almost a year ago. Yes... France didn't performed well during the 2022–23 UEFA Nations League. The management didn't gave much importance to this competition, and the players themselves looked not very interested. There were quite a few upsets. Started with France going down 1-2 against Danmark (after scoring the initial goal). Then Croatia got a lucky penalty, which helped them to hold France to a draw. Then again, in the next match another penalty enabled Croatia to defeat France.. I am not defending their performance in this tournament. Just saying that France of 2022 June is not the same as the France of 2023 April.
I would guess that even the world cup qualifiers weren't really that much amazing for them neither. In the end France knows what is important and what is not, which game matters and which one doesn't and they play accordingly. I have to say they have won a world cup, and they were the finalists on the last one. They almost got that one too, penalties were the only difference maker.
So all in all I would say that it is not really that much of a big deal to not win something like nations league which is basically a friendly cup at this point, nobody really cares about it. France will be fine and they have a big chance to win it this time around, they do not have a proper Italy against them neither, they have no competition against them.
