No need to delete your topic in my opinion. I agree to JollyGood here, that new topics about achievements should be eligible to create. If there's no obvious intention of aggressive Merit fishing because OP can't get Merit by normal posts (which is clearly not the case for mikeywith), new achievements topics should be eligible.  Smiley
That dedicated thread was created not that long ago under the guise of reducing spam and/or reducing announcements that we remade in the hope of receiving merits but personally I would not bother posting in it if I wanted to announce anything and many others have continued to ignore it by posting their announcements in their own newly created threads.

If the forum admins create a dedicated thread for members to make their personal announcements then it is fine we all should post our milestones and rank-up and other announcements in that admin created dedicated thread but since that did not happen there is definitely no obligation for members to post in any thread that any member creates and states it is for this reason or it is for that reason.

Just to remind you that I never spoke of an obligation, I think it is not necessary to quote myself, you can see my post above
I did not quote you, there is a misunderstanding. I merely advised the OP there was no obligation to post in any dedicated thread (because it was not set up by admins as a rule) and that he was more than welcome to post about what he wanted. Sorry for the confusion.
