The conditions have to be like that because if they can't get up and are still the same as this season who have become clowns then it is indeed difficult for Chelsea and they will continue to be criticized for their performance.
There's nothing they can do at the moment apart from trying not to drop points again and again because indeed for now they are quite terrible for a big club.
At the moment, Todd should be calm in the decision of the next Chelsea coach because indeed if his decision was rushed like before then it would be very unfortunate for them.
I do not think that they would be this terrible ever again. I am not saying they will win the league next season, of course the recovery will not be that big, but I do believe that they are going to be better than this year without a doubt. They should be given a chance, and if they finish the season anywhere in top 6, that would be a good improvement for the team.
I believe that is what they should aim for next season, to finish in the top 6, that may look like it is not a big deal and it will not give them a bigger fan base or make them happy, they will want more after spending so much money but at the end of the day if they improved, that's good enough. Look at Arsenal, they kept on losing but then they ended up winning eventually, just give them some time.
