It's good to know that the Qatar world cup was peaceful and there were no issues related to alcohol consumption. Maybe other countries can learn from Qatar's rules and implement similar ones to control alcohol consumption and prevent any issues during the events.
What other countries, especially muslim countries should learn is that their citizens, despite the fact that their religion forbids alcohol consumption and gambling, still do these activities but they do it outside of their borders. They still visit some other countries, drink heavily, gamble a lot, use a service of prostitutes and then in their country they tell you that you shouldn't drink alcohol. Cmon, let's be frank, this is a double standard.
As Qatar is a Muslim country, their rules can be very difficult for people from other countries. But this is their rule. But since the next World Cup will not be held in a Muslim country, football fans will probably get a lot of freedom. However, those countries may impose some regulations on safety.
It doesn't matter what their rules are. When you host an international event, you should respect their vision and belief too. If they want people to stick with their rules, then they should only host local events.
