It was still near impossible for Real Madrid to catch up with Barcelona I think. Because Barcelona just didn't want to make the usual effort in the latest matches as they were already very comfortable in the league. If Real Madrid were even able to benefit from those chances I don't think Barcelona would have continued to play in the same way later on. I mean Barcelona would have sensed the threat and improved their performance to a high level once again. They wouldn't like to lose this title easily.
This weekend there is going to be a match in Camp Nou between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid by the way. Barcelona are obviously favourite but let's see if they will care about the match that much. Because the gap with Real Madrid is still too big now. I wouldn't bet on Barcelona in this situation.
I don't know what is happening with Barcelona but they are clearly not in the good form now. So, it is very possible they continue to miss points, especially in big matches. The point gap is quite far, in theory Real Madrid is almost impossible to catch Barcelona. However, if Barcelona continues to miss points, Real Madrid may have a chance to return to 1st place. It is surely a small chance, but it is not 100% impossible.
The next match is a tight match, they will play against Atletico Madrid. Barcelona is the favorite team to win, but Atletico is in a good form now. They always wins all the last 5 matches. So, it is not impossible if Atletico steals 3 points at Barcelona home (Camp Nou).
