Judging by
this screenshot from the onboard camera of the loitering ammunition Lancet, the 'Gepard' guarding the S-300 was also damaged or eliminated.
There's a video of that hit, you can find it if you're interested, and the Gepard survived the attack. There was no fire and just a small explosion of the drone itself. Most likely fixable, which is why the Russian side only shows that screenshot everywhere. The damage looked like a hand grenade went off on that Gepard's armor.
The idea behind the Gepards was to protect the S-300's. They didn't.
Re-training of both the crews and the officers in charge of planning may be in order. I'm sure that both men and officers of Ukraine would much rather participate in the suicidal fight with the Russians than go to chill out in the West doing boring training though.
To be fair, it looks like all the hardware was on-the-move. The Russians seem to have had pretty good intel on when what would be where...or they had a hell of a lot of kit saturating the skies. The Ukrainians seem to have had chronic problems keeping information of this nature secure. One suspects that the problem stems from the whole place being infused with corruption, and operating in an area where only a minority of the population wants the 'home team' to win. Probably a significant fraction of the soldiery themselves are of questionable 'patriotism' given that they got kidnapped off the street by the commissars and there are swastika bearing neo-nazi brigades in the rear for the purpose of shooting soldiers who retreat (as well as assorted civilians when things get boring.)
