We have already seen in the history how gambling has destroyed the lives of so many people.
Many people have destroyed their relationships with their partners, family, friends as well as colleagues.
We should learn from others' mistakes and improvise. The grand parent in this story would have had so much experience yet he failed to control his gambling addiction.
This tells us to maintain a distance from gambling as soon as you realize that you are getting addicted to it.
I agree, we should learn from these news and prevent ourselves from falling to gambling addiction. Let this incidents set as an example that if we don't gamble responsibly, control ourselves and moderate our gambling activity, there is a possibility in the future to get addiction to gambling. we should be warry of these effects of gambling addiction and set as a warning and at the same time limiter for us in engaging in gambling activities.
Gambling isn't a sin but too much gambling to the point of gambling addiction often destroy lives and to combat such thing to happen, we need self control and moderation of our gambling engagement.
There are three licensing objectives which support the whole basis of gambling regulation:
- that crime should be kept out of gambling
- it should be conducted in a fair and open way
- children and other vulnerable persons should be protected from harm or exploitation from gambling.
That is a good objectives but the problem is regulators are too relax in monitoring gambling activities. They will never know unless there is already a case of incident due to gambling addiction. There regulation seems only a decoration and just in writing and was never been implemented or practiced.
