I wrote MintPal and can confirm that they are saying they detected a large number of bot votes. Whether this is the case or not I have no idea. See their message below:

I am writing to get some clarity about the voting system and why a coin
that I have supporting and voting on MtGoxCoin, has fallen from the 90
thousands back to the 60 thousands range. I have been voting most hours
that I can, and the community has been working very hard. I know we haven't
donated a ton of BTC to the voting, but this coin is for the relief of
victims of MtGox and as you can imagine funds are limited. The demand will

We found a very large amount of bot accounts voting for it today and removed those votes from its tally.
