The bundesliga is not so competitive, because even if Bayern munich do not play well they can still win the bundesliga title, and if they win it this season, Dortmund should know that they have let their fans down because this season was a good opportunity for them to win the title from Bayern munich after many years of them winning it.
Bayern Munich is like PSG in Ligue 1. They are strongest teams in their national leagues but in some seasons, they are not best teams in performances. However, they still win those leagues because other clubs fail to play better than those giants. It is coincidence sometimes too, as when other clubs have excellent forms in a long season, Bayern Munich and PSG simply have their outstanding seasons too.
Anyway if a club can not take advantage given by a competitor a few times in one season, they are not deserve to be winner in their league. Dortmund looks to be a club like that in this season. They still have time but they will probably have to chase Bayern Munich after this week.
I have always said this about Dortmund. They can never be relied on. Even before their draw to Bochum, I always knew they will slip up and let Bayern take the lead. All Bayern needs to do now is win all their remaining matches and they have won the league.
At least Dortmund is one of best competitors against Bayern Munich in Bundesliga. They are one of very limited clubs which won Bayern Munich in Bundesliga and won the league. Only a couple of clubs in the last 20 years as I remember are Dortmund, Stuttgart, Bremen and Wolfsburg. Since 2012 - 2013 season, only one champion Bayern Munich.
