Yeah I agree, no one is above the habit of becoming an addict. If you are a gambler and you understand the simple notion of losing too much or trying to win when it isn't coming then I can guess you can be able to refrain yourself from becoming a gambling addict. Professional or no professional gambling is still gambling and you can become addicted to it even if you have been playing for lots of years, in some way the gambling addict are actually the ones who find it really difficult to leave gambling.
While everyone is at risk of becoming addicted, there are some characteristics that could make you way more susceptible to it, some of them are lack of impulse control, short term thinking, narcissism and emotional outbursts, if a person has one or several of those characteristics I will give them very high chances of suffering some sort of addiction during their lives, and the difficulty they will have to face when trying to leave that addiction behind will be higher as well, if we compare to other persons which do not have those characteristics.
