i guess it will work until it doesn't and then people will cry scam. imagine someone buying alot of tokens only to find out they're really worthless. most tokens are you know. even on ethereum. but these ones on ordinals especially would have to be. they aren't even real. maybe someone uploads an ordinal to adjust their balance to way more. as a hack.
