The way I see it they have no reason to delay transaction for this length of time and furthermore, if they decide to go down the AML/KYC route (as an excuse to indefinitely hold on to funds without returning them) then basically nobody should trust them.
The only time you should send KYC to an exchange is if they are 100% reputable and you are sure they will never sell your KYC/AML data on the black market to international criminals and scammers. If you are looking to receive fiat in to your bank then clearly exchanges have to enforce KYC therefore it is reasonable to send KYC to them for AML purposes.
