Op I strongly disagree with you in some of your suggestions.
Money should make you happy but if it doesn't then you are probably spending it the wrong way.
I don't think this your statement is correct. There are sometimes one spend money in the right direction and go home find himself angry because the money is not enough for in to buy another things. He is sad because the cash was not enough and not because he spend it in a wrong way.

Op I have not heard this your phrase in the verbal phrase and in the idiomatic expression. One can only buy materials to acquire experience and not the opposite.

I smile!! Can you do what you posted? The Holy Bible says,  do to other what others will do to you that you not be angry.

Remember you can't kill yourself with hunger and you have to eat to survive. So if one delay the consumption rate then the person will definitely have issues in the society.
