From that news, the convicts do not literally
blame other people. Instead of accepting their
misfortune, they resorted to deceiving the authorities. They seem to have believed they could obtain all the money if the court ruled in their favor. I don't know them; however, from everything I've read, I can tell that they are greedy.
What is difficult to understand is how they thought this would work at all? I mean this kind of childish attitude may work with something of little importance that no one is going to research too deeply, but if you accuse someone of a crime and that person or institution has the means to investigate the whole thing then that is precisely what they are going to do, and when they found out those people were lying, it is natural they took legal measures against them.
