The debate about banning nuclear weapons is not easy. It is about law and politics, but also ethics and morality. It makes us think about what we value and what we owe to each other. It also makes us think about how we can solve the problems and dangers of the world.
My question is this: How can we balance the moral duty of ending nuclear weapons with the practical need of staying safe?
The world will be a better place if nuclear weapons didn't exist because they are a big threat to human existence. If world power agrees to put an end to the production and dispose of existing nuclear weapons it will be a welcomed development but this will never happen because this world is filled with evil and we need protection against these forces. So it is morally right to own these weapons to protect the lives, property, and territory of nations.
But it becomes a problem when nations use these weapons to gain political influence and economic prosperity. They use it to threaten and sometimes invade weaker nations. Some of these world powers instigate wars in different counties because they want to dispose of obsolete weapons and sell them to other counties. Using these weapons to pursue political and economic gain is immoral.
