It's quite possible that you first heard about it a few years ago. Perhaps you were reading a recent article or blog post that was talking about the 2010 event and you misunderstood to think that it has just happened, or perhaps you encountered a forum post or other discussion where someone was falsely claiming that it had recently happened (either because they misunderstood or because they were intentionally spreading FUD).
