Saying that gambling is a choice sounds like a BS excuse to me. Doing drugs is also "a choice". Becoming an alcoholic is "a choice" as well.
Ruining your life is a choice. Sometimes the people lose control over their behavior and their choice suddenly becomes an addiction.

Speaking of addicts, addiction is not a choice regardless of the type of addiction. but what happens is, someone allows himself to get carried away with excessive pleasure so that it ends in addiction. Gambling addiction is a not an emotion we choose, it's mostly the result or should I call it consequences of our actions, gambling should be mostly seen as a fun activity, but it's rather unfortunate that most gamblers, even after knowing this, tend to forget easily, and before they know it, they are already carried away by the eager to make money, which is where the whole program starts..
