I second the opinion that although the contest is there to celebrate, the goal is to make pizza.
As long as people give merit to those abominations, people will keep making them and its something that always happens in these type of contests.

I may be a partypooper and sounding like a grumpy old man, but there should be some selection because not everything there is pizza (for some of them i don't even know it is).
I completely agree with you both. Just like in the Pie competition, a little bit of selection and quality control wouldn't hurt. If we allow anything and everything to be called pizza, it dilutes the essence of this contest.
If there's no dough and it's not baked, then it's not a pizza! Simple as that.
