In fact most addicted gamblers say the same thing that they are not addicted (denial). Most addicted gamblers do not realize that they are addicted and this is the real meaning of being addicted. If they know/realize that they are being addicted, they will stopped or at least reduced their gambling activities.

Gambling is designed for money related purposes, both gamblers and owners want to make money from gambling but without a doubt gambling gives more advantages/benefits for the owner. Some gamblers may make money from gambling but not for main source of income. I know there are some professional sports bettor and professional poker players who gamble regularly to make money but I believe they are not addicted because they are professional who knows how to gamble responsibly.
