The point is if it was done by someone else then they would have faced the consequences (at least some match fee) and real bashing from the commentators but no one on the comm even dared to utter serious remarks except Simon Doul.
I disagree. I believe several commentators were pissed with what he did during that match(Gavaskar, Harsha etc). Also, I don't think others would have been treated harshly either as long as this was their first offence in the match.
He had opted the risk and brought win to the team.
