The defeat with a score of 1-3 meant that Auxerre had to be relegated this season and the win on the road made Lens finally finish in 2nd place in the standings. It seems that this is not the result that Auxerre wanted, especially in the decisive match at the end of the season they had to face a fairly strong team, namely Lens. In this match it was also seen that Lens was merciless no matter who his opponent was and in fact Lens had locked his victory in the first half by winning two goals.

Auxerre had caught up in the second half through one goal they scored, but it seems that the number of goals they have to pay is still lacking. The closing goal from Lens was scored by Loïs Openda in the 78th minute and closed the victory for Lens. Auxerre must be willing to be relegated this season along with other teams such as Ajaccio, Troyes and Angers.
