In the end, Stuttgart really didn't want to be beaten by Hamburger SV. In fact, in the second leg which was played at home to Hamburger SV, at least Hamburger SV could have better statistics and that allowed Hamburger SV to be able to win even if only by 1-0. But in the second half Stuttgart again scored three goals and ended the second leg with a final score of 1-3 and that means Stuttgart managed to win 6-1 on aggregate. With these results, of course, Stuttgart remains a team that deserves to play in the Bundesliga next season.
Hamburg got hope with the early goal. Unfortunately they did not score a second goal in the first half. Otherwise it would certainly have been more exciting.
In the second half, however, the difference became obvious. Just like in the first leg. When Stuttgart shifted up a gear, Hamburgs defence was overburdened. Stuttgarts second goal was due to a mistake from the goalkeeper from Hamburg. The third goal did not matter because Hamburg could not have won anyway.
But Hamburg gave a lot to the fans and the atmosphere in the stadium was said to be good. So in the end everyone is happy after all.
Their condition and mentality had been disturbed from the start, especially with a 3-goal deficit, they definitely thought that this was a difficult thing.
But seeing how they played in the first half I was quite happy with them, it's just that for the second half it still looked the same as the first leg where they tried to attack but forgot about the defense which had lots of gaps and could be easily exploited by Stuttgart.
