Hopefully Newcastle can replicate the form of last season as they go into this season. I hope the Board will recognise the need to build a squad capable of competing on a European and domestic front next season.
Newcastle astounded everyone by finishing in the top four among premier clubs. Newcastle is in the Champions League and will be competitive this season after an excellent performance in league games. Eddie Howe, the manager of the Magpies, has inspired the club with his fantastic game strategy, and he is currently interested in bringing in new players to improve his team for the enormous challenges ahead next season. The board has sufficient funds to bring in promising players during the transfer window, which is a good time to expect more consistent performances from the team.
Newcastle is probably the most interesting club to look at these days because everyone is now waiting for their next move. It is difficult to tell whether they are going to pull off a 2nd Chelsea and invest over 500 million or whether they will gradually increase the quality of their squad and build something great over time. At least they have seen that the Chelsea project failed and that you can't just throw half a billion out the window and win the title. It needs much more than that. That's why I doubt that Neymar would really be that interesting to them. They know his history of injuries and his attitude.
My desire for Newcastle to shine next year is high but I don't like to put many hopes on the clubs that only find their way up but might not be able to sustain it. It's not the first club that would shine but for a moment, some would even win the league that season, yet they end up betraying the trust people have in them. We can learn from Leicester City, where are they now? So before any club would break my heart, I treat it with caution.
Newcastle has been holding below 10th position for many years, and suddenly they qualified for the Champions League. I will only give them 2 more seasons to hold this feat before I will take them seriously. This might just be their lucky season.
