Real Madrid needs backup plans in case they are unable to sign Kylian Mbappe for the upcoming campaign. Mbappe has previously let Real Madrid down by choosing to stay at PSG despite their interest but given the ambiguity surrounding his future it would be imprudent to make him the only priority.
Why is that? Mbappe, in my opinion, must be Real Madrid's top priority next season since Benzema did not renew his contract with the team. Real Madrid need a striker who can help them perform well every season, and Mbappe has that as a striker. The past is the past, now Mbappe is a player that Real Madrid must bring in to fill the striker spot.
Instead the team should think about going after Harry Kane who has a burning desire to win important trophies in his career. Real Madrid might be able to convince Tottenham Hotspur to part ways with the gifted striker by making them an alluring offer. Mbappe still has one year left on his PSG deal, so the chase may be over for the time being. However it might be wiser to be patient and wait the two years until he becomes a free agent. Real madrid can ensure they strengthen their team and achieve success in the very competitive football landscape by looking into many options and keeping open to possibilities.
Kane is good, but he's not too young to stay with Real Madrid for a few seasons. Real Madrid could put Kane on a contract for 3 seasons but I think Kane is far more likely to stay in the Premier League with Tottenham or another team.
So far there are several names of the most valuable strikers on the market who might be an alternative for Real Madrid besides Mbappe. This is the list of those 15 players:

Erling Haaland

Harry Kane
Lautaro Martínez
Gabriel Jesus
Darwin Núñez
