This will definitely harm Memphis to play without him in the first 30% of the season, at least they don't have to pay him for that time I guess.
On a side note, Memphis Grizzlies may be just fine even without Ja Morant overall. Honestly, they are now used to playing without him lol.
Without Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies had a:
- 20W-5L record in the 2021-22 season
- 11W-10L record in the 2022-23 season
But regardless, it's not what I really like to point out but the suspension Morant received. What kind of
sh*t is that. It's like the league is not considering that as a serious case. Superstar, All-Star level or even a role player, should have received a heavy penalty for such a case like that.
I'm totally with you!
A player of his caliber, having a role model status and all, should be more careful about how he is presenting himself in public. If he can't deal with that, he chose the wrong profession.
He can live his inner thug life dreams in playing GTA or something.
The NBA, with still such a light suspension for a repeating "offender", could and should have made an example out of him in my opinion.
Who knows if he even learns anything from this. He didn't learn anything from the first one, that's for sure.
Most people also forget, these 2 flashing a gun incidents aren't even the only shady stuff he did in the past years. There are stories of him pointing a gun at Indiana Pacers members or punching and threatening a 16 something year old kid, and more.
