I also think the same. Joselu is 33 years old now and he isn't even close to Benzema's quality. He must have just been signed to increase the alternatives in the offense area. I was also impressed with the work he has done with Espanyol - 16 goals in 34 La Liga matches. Because of that he might be useful in the times he is needed. But this just can't be a signing to fill Benzema's place. If we don't see any other much better striker signing then I won't have much hope about Real Madrid's next season.
Especially to become champion in the Champions League they need a qualified striker transfer. If Mbappe doesn't come now then they can just look for sensible moves. Maybe Juventus might be willing to let Vlahovic go for example.
Agree. Real Madrid must expect a better striker to replace Benzema. Joselu has experienced a great season, he scored 16 goals during the last season. But it is not enough for Real Madrid, Benzema is still more productive than him and Joselu's quality isn't proven on UCL yet. Real Madrid doesn't play in La Liga only, they also play in UCL and target to win it as well. I think the strikers who deserve to be Real Madrid main striker are Harry Kane, Mbappe, or Osimhen. Vlahovic is also a good striker but I think those 3 strikers are better. If Real Madrid can't sign one of them, we can assume that Real Madrid possibly won't get any trophy in the next season.
I wouldn't say that Real Madrid refused to fight for Haaland, but there have been a couple of things at work and I believe as a player at that stage one of the dreams is to be coached by Pep Guardiola for sure. There have also been a couple of other things like Haaland's father having played for Manchester city for example and for a guy who is so competitive like Haaland, I expected that he will prefer the Premier League over La Liga. And he has done everything right, I think he had that feeling and to be honest who wouldn't like to be part of the best club in the world. The Manchester City squad is the strongest out there right now.

Haaland prefers joining Man City because his father was a player of Man City and he wants to play in the best league in the world. After Messi and Ronaldo left La Liga, no doubt that EPL is the best league in the world. Haaland must think that he wants to show his quality in the most competitive league. He is also in the right club and with the right coach, so he feels comfortable playing with Man City. Moreover, he can contribute to leading Man City to win the UCL title in the last season, he has no reason to leave Man City in a short time.
